It’s hard to wear leather in the summer (especially when it’s 95 degrees out), but these leather J Brand shorts were just the right amount of interesting in an otherwise simple outfit. We visited the in-laws last weekend in New Braunfels, and decided to do some exploring in Austin. We mainly walked around South Congress street and did some shopping and munching, and then we headed to a great little place called Bangers Sausage house where I indulged in a duck sausage topped with caramelized onions and fig; thankfully, I didn’t spill on my white shirt this time. If you love sausage and beer, this is a place for you.
Back to the outfit – the shorts were a Poshmark find from a couple months ago, and I love how they are a little more structured, and therefore dressy. I decided on a simple white shirt (Vince from TJMaxx), and my $30 Saint Laurent studded flats (which I am still a little in shock over). The flats are about 1/2 size too big for me, so I added a rubber heel pad to keep them from slipping. I find that when choosing a heel pad, look for a rubber or gel one instead of one that is cloth. This will help your foot actually stay in the shoe, as your skin will better grip the rubber than a fabric. I have tried both, and my foot still slides out of the fabric ones. Since the look was lacking color, I chose my 3.1 Phillip Lim bag with a bit of turquoise.
The best thing about this outfit? The cost.
