October was a busy month for work and other travel, so the shopping was pretty slow (which is better for my wallet). I managed to score a few goodies, and also had to return a couple which is rare for me. On a side note, I managed to get to TJMaxx this weekend, and it seems like they recently did another round of markdowns. They had various Rag & Bone and J Brand jeans for $25, and lots of Vince, Joie, and Rag & Bone tops for $25. It’s definitely worth a look if you end up close to a TJ this week!
3.1 Phillip Lim top: $25 // Rag & Bone ‘The Dre’ thrasher jeans: $20
This red/orange 3.1 Phillip Lim top was being sold as a dress, but unless you’re under 5ft tall, it’s waaaaay too short. It looks great as a top though, and I’m trying to add color to my wardrobe (even though I rarely wear it). It’s laser-cut silk, so the edges are raw which gives it a neat look. Because it was only $25 on Poshmark, I wasn’t too worried about it being a top instead of a dress. I also snatched up these distressed jeans for only $20, and I like them more than I thought I would. They don’t stretch very much, but the large holes in the knees make them comfortable for sitting down. I haven’t quite figured out how I want to wear them yet, but I couldn’t let them go for that price!
The Vince striped sweater was another Poshmark find at only $18. I got it in the mail right before we left for San Francisco, so I took it along (San Fran post coming later this week). I love looser-fitting sweaters, and I’m really into stripes right now, so it was a must. I got the James Perse shirt on clearance at TJMaxx for only $7. It has some slight ruching on one side, and a perfectly scooped neckline (one can never have enough white tee shirts). I got the size L (3 in James Perse sizing) so it could fit loosely.
I still can’t believe I found these flats….while I wouldn’t call them a “cheap” find, they were definitely a great deal for this pair. I have been keeping an eye out for these in another color or other sizes for some friends, but they are pretty hard to find for less than retail right now. Not only am I obsessed with them, but they are Coco’s favorite pair of shoes (hello long strings!!). She wouldn’t leave the strings alone, so she got to be in the picture too.
Allen Edmonds belt: $1.79
While Goodwill was a “miss” for me this month, I did manage to score a little something for Tommy. During the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, I picked up an Allen Edmonds belt for Tommy for $80. A hefty price to pay, but they are his favorite belts, and he really needed a dark brown one. Well, when I was checking out the women’s belt section at Goodwill, I found this brand new Allen Edmonds belt for $1.79. Not only is it his size, but he didn’t have a casual black belt, so it was a win-win!
Target deer head: $27
While in San Fran last weekend, we stopped at Target to pick up a few things for Tommy’s grandparents. I came across this wicker deer head, only to find it was on clearance! I thought it would be perfect for in between our cabinets, but alas, there was no way it was fitting in my carry-on. I checked online to try to order it, but no luck there either. So, this weekend we went to a couple local Target stores, and were finally able to find one. It’s nice and heavy, and fits great in the space. Plus, now I can dress him up for the holiday seasons! After all, when you live in Texas, it’s mandatory to have some sort of animal head on the wall…
