Everyone knows that the statement necklace has been “in” for a while now, and it has gone through the evolutions: neon colors, chunky golds, pretty pastels…now, it’s all about the silver boho-style necklaces, and the bigger the better. I had started to see them on bloggers and decided I wanted one, but then I saw the prices.
Since I love doing my nails so much, I decided to do a monthly(ish) roundup of my nail looks. I usually paint my nails about once a week, as that is how long they last before they start to chip away. As much as I want to dive into my dark colors for fall, I’m holding back as we are still dressing for warm weather, so I’m rounding up my latest nail looks for the summer to fall transition.
I usually don’t wear colors this bright, but this orange Vince dress is one of my exceptions. A simple shift dress is appropriate for so many different occasions, which is why I love them so much. I brought out my wedding shoes to wear with the dress for a special dinner date with Tommy (an early celebration of 5 years of being together today…crap that’s a long time)!
Tommy and I are big sushi fans, but we don’t get to eat it as much we would like, because our favorite sushi place is about an hour away (all of our favorite restaurants are about an hour away actually, except Chick-fil-a…but that’s what happens when you live in a small town). We finally had some errands to run in Fort Worth, so we took advantage and went to Blue Sushi on West 7th St, and they have a great happy hour all day on Sundays.
June was a good month for getting some crazy deals. As seen on my Utility Thrift post, one of my favorite finds of the month was a military green Fossil jacket for only $8. When bargain hunting, I find it rare that I ever find exactly what I’m looking for, so I keep my options open (shopping off-season is usually best, because there is more merchandise, and less people going through it). Finding this jacket was a major score! Goodwill also came through again the next time I went with a simple James Perse white shirt that hadn’t ever been worn for $4.
Confession: I’m addicted to boots. I’m always on the lookout for a good pair (but never want to spend a lot, of course). A couple weeks ago, I ended up finding 2 great pairs of boots on the same day on Poshmark. The first pair are over the knee Alexander Wang boots with a cutout at the heel, which I’ve been eyeing for a couple years, but didn’t want to spend too much. These are in great shape, and I ended up getting them for $80 which is more than I like to spend, BUT…when I’ve been searching for them for this long, it’s worth it to me. Well, an hour-ish later, I spotted a fabulous pair of YSL ankle booties and thought the $35-price tag was a type-o. It wasn’t a type-o…MAJOR SCORE! They retailed for $1,200!
