While some states are already experiencing sweater-weather, Texas is still hanging on to the summer heat. I took advantage of the cooler, rainy morning this weekend and put on my J Brand leather vest, and a hat to protect my hair from the rain (obviously). By the time the afternoon rolled around, the sun came out and the vest came off.
Well, it’s the first of September, which means it’s time for a roundup of what I bought in August (and of course, how much I spent on it). I’ll start with the plain-Jane white tee shirt I got from TJMaxx for $12. Pretty much anyone who knows me will know that Vince is my favorite overall brand, and I’m always looking for their basics at TJ, so when the yellow tag sale rolled around in the beginning of August, I was able to snatch up this shirt.
July was a pretty good month for deal-hunting, I must say. Let’s start with Goodwill: a few weeks ago, I walked away with a gorgeous 100% leather crop top for $8, which I’m still trying to figure out how exactly to wear, but I just couldn’t leave it there. I stopped by again this week after work, and there was so many great things! I came home with a super soft LOFT sweatshirt (that is currently in the wash) for lounging, a blush Vince Camuto sweater for work ($4), and my favorite, a Bella Dahl chambray top for $4 (pardon the wrinkles, as it hasn’t been washed yet). We have a great little boutique on the Granbury square that carries these shirts, and I’ve been wanting one for a while, but couldn’t justify spending $130. Being patient pays off!
June was a good month for getting some crazy deals. As seen on my Utility Thrift post, one of my favorite finds of the month was a military green Fossil jacket for only $8. When bargain hunting, I find it rare that I ever find exactly what I’m looking for, so I keep my options open (shopping off-season is usually best, because there is more merchandise, and less people going through it). Finding this jacket was a major score! Goodwill also came through again the next time I went with a simple James Perse white shirt that hadn’t ever been worn for $4.
Confession: I’m addicted to boots. I’m always on the lookout for a good pair (but never want to spend a lot, of course). A couple weeks ago, I ended up finding 2 great pairs of boots on the same day on Poshmark. The first pair are over the knee Alexander Wang boots with a cutout at the heel, which I’ve been eyeing for a couple years, but didn’t want to spend too much. These are in great shape, and I ended up getting them for $80 which is more than I like to spend, BUT…when I’ve been searching for them for this long, it’s worth it to me. Well, an hour-ish later, I spotted a fabulous pair of YSL ankle booties and thought the $35-price tag was a type-o. It wasn’t a type-o…MAJOR SCORE! They retailed for $1,200!
